Chapter 49
Zachary’s tone was sharp, his patience already thinning as he glared at Elisa Stone standing in front of his Rolls Royce. Elisa, undeterred by his cold reception, flashed him a bright, confident smile. She was dressed to perfection, every inch of her appearance radiating wealth and elegance. Her diamond accessories sparkled as she moved, adding to her already polished image.
“Elisa, I’m not in the mood for games today. Move your car,” Zachary repeated, his voice colder than before.
Elisa leaned in closer, her eyes meeting his through the rolled-down window. “Zachary, darling, don’t be like that. I’ve been thinking about you, and I’m sure you’ve been thinking about me too.” Her tone was playful, but there was a hint of something more serious beneath it.
Zachary remained unmoved. He wasn’t interested in playing along. His mind was still preoccupied with Serenity and her actions from earlier. He wasn’t about to let Elisa pull him into another one of her games.
“I don’t have time for this, Elisa. If you don’t move your car now, I’ll have it towed.” He wasn’t bluffing.
Elisa smirked, clearly aware that Zachary wasn’t one to make idle threats. “Alright, alright,” she said, stepping back from the car. “I’ll move it. But remember, Zachary, I’m not going anywhere. I’ll always find my way back to you.”
Zachary didn’t respond. He simply watched as Elisa climbed back into her red Ferrari and, with a wave, drove off. As the car moved out of the way, Zachary couldn’t help but feel a slight irritation. Elisa’s persistence was annoying, but it was nothing compared to the sense of discomfort he felt whenever he thought about Serenity and the word that had been haunting him all morning.
He shook his head, trying to push the thoughts aside. He had a job to do. As his convoy finally entered York Corporation, Zachary made a mental note to talk to his assistant about the upcoming meetings. But in the back of his mind, Elisa’s words lingered, and the question of whether he truly understood what it meant to feel jealousy weighed heavily on him.
